Job Profile: Information Technology System Administrator
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Information Technology System Administrator to join our team and manage our organization’s IT infrastructure. As the System Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our systems, networks, and technology platforms. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to IT management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network and System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and network devices to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
- Monitor system logs, network traffic, and performance metrics to identify and resolve issues proactively, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
- Conduct regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to address vulnerabilities, enhance functionality, and maintain system integrity.
- Security Management:
- Implement and enforce security policies, access controls, and data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
- Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities, and implement remediation strategies.
- Monitor firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software to detect and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity, business continuity, and disaster preparedness.
- Regularly test backup systems, restore procedures, and failover mechanisms to validate their effectiveness and reliability in the event of a disaster or system failure.
- Document recovery procedures, escalation protocols, and incident response plans to guide staff and stakeholders during emergency situations.
- User Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, responding to service requests, resolving issues, and addressing IT-related inquiries.
- Conduct user training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities to promote IT literacy, best practices, and adherence to IT policies and procedures.
- Maintain user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain documentation, configuration guides, and technical manuals for IT systems, processes, and procedures.
- Generate regular reports, metrics, and performance indicators to assess system health, compliance status, and service level agreements.
- Collaborate with IT management and stakeholders to review findings, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) preferred.
- Proven experience in system administration, network administration, or IT operations, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Proficiency in managing Windows, Linux, or Unix-based operating systems, virtualization technologies, and cloud computing platforms.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and routing technologies.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, encryption techniques, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users and stakeholders.
